Our Aims

Mission Statement

It is the purpose of the Castle Kilbride museum to collect, preserve, research, exhibit and interpret artifacts and archival material. In a traditional setting, the artifacts pertain to the nineteenth century interior painted decoration styles and techniques, specifically that of trompe l’oeil, within the context of the Livingston Family. This home, a National Historic Site, is an architecturally significant building, constructed in 1877, featuring trompe l’oeil ceiling and wall paintings unique to all of Canada.

Audience

Castle Kilbride aims to serve the needs of a diverse audience. Visitors of all ages and physical abilities from around the world with an interest in historical preservation and art will be encouraged to participate in museum activities. The primary goal for the Castle is to build a strong community support and to encourage repeat visitation through the development of its local audience.
